Fortnite Tournament Rules

Fortnite Tournament Rules

Game Rules

  1. Finding a Match:  For a 2v2 tournament, all four (4) players will join one lobby and search for a squad game. For a 1v1 tournament, both players join one lobby and search for a doubles game.
  2. Server Selection: RSG is hosting this tournament for the locals of Newfoundland, therefore we only play on one server:
    • NA-East
  3. Win Condition: The winning team will be determined by the team with the largest number of total kills over two games played. If their is a tie, the tiebreaker will be determined by the last team that has a player still standing. If that is still a tie then the winner will be decided by the team that got the final kill.
    • Note: Players that are downed are NOT considered standing.
    • Kills made after a match has concluded will not count. Once no player is left standing, the match is concluded.
      • Example: Players A, B, and C are all dead. Player D is still standing. If Player A gets a kill, that kill will count towards the team’s overall score. The second that player D dies, no other kills that occur after Player D’s death will be counted.
  4. Griefing: Teams are permitted to work together, however, you may not intentionally cause the death of your opponent or negatively impact your opponent’s gameplay. This includes sabotaging structures, causing fall damage, or any other negative interference in your opponents gameplay. Doing so will result in a forfeit of kills for that map.
  5. Cross Platform: Cross platform is permitted. Players can play on either PS4 Console, Xbox console, PC and switch for online events, and PS4 with controller, PS4 with keyboard and mouse, or Xbox with controller. Xbox doesn’t have a keyboard and mouse option yet.

Bracket Play

  1. Single Elimination: After losing a match, teams will be eliminated from the bracket.
  2. Default Start Time: All round one (1) matches have the same default start time. After round one (1), all Matches have a unique default start time that is dependent upon the time at which the teams’ previous round results were submitted. Matches must be started by their default start time and played until completion. Postponing matches is only at the discretion of Online Tournament staff.
  3. Double Forfeit: If a match is not played and neither team submits a ticket requesting the forfeit win, or both teams otherwise forfeit a game/match, the game/match win will be awarded to the higher seeded team.
  4. Seeding: Teams will be randomly seeded at of the close of registration. Seeds are done in ascending order. The higher seed is determined by the team with the seed closest to zero (0).
    • Example: Seed four (4) is a higher seed than seed ten (10).

All Matches

  1. Warm-up: No warm-up or practice games are permitted once the match’s first game has begun. If a match is played before the scheduled time, it will not be considered a warm-up and will count as the official results.
  2. Delays: Teams may not delay the start of a match beyond its scheduled start time, without the approval of a tournament official. Teams may delay a match between games for up to five minutes. Teams can request that a tournament official enforce this five minute time limit. After five minutes of a tournament official enforced delay, if the delaying team does not have the minimum required players, they will forfeit the match.
  3. Minimum Required Players: Teams may be short handed by one player in order to start a game. A Team will Forfeit the Match if they are missing all of their players 15 minutes after a Match’s default start time (Grace Period). Teams will be forced to start a Game at the end of a Grace Period as outlined in the No Show proceedure.
  4. Lag: As the game is hosted on dedicated servers, replays will not be issued for lag.
  5. Disconnections: If a player does not get into the game lobby before the start of the game, all players should back out and re-form the party.
    • If a player disconnects prior to landing, the match should be replayed. If this occurs more than once, tournament live support should be
      • If a player disconnects/leaves the game after landing, their kills at the time of the disconnection (proof must be provided in the case of a disagreement) will be added to the kills of their teammate and the remainder of the game will continue.

Reporting

  1. No Shows:  The No Show grace period time is 15 minutes after the match’s original start time. For example, if a match is scheduled for 10:00 PM, the no show time for this match would be 10:15 PM.  Prior to any forfeits being made, a tournament admin must confirm that a team has failed to show up for the match.
    • Tournament No Show Procedure: A tournament admin will contact the team that has failed to show up through the console’s messaging system. If we are unable to contact you through the system, you will be contacted through the email they registered with.

  5. Proof:  We highly recommend that proof is taken with the console’s built in recording system to gather proof. At least one member of each team should take a video or screenshot(s) of each game’s results in case proof is needed for a dispute. All proof should be clearly visible and contain the players names’, if they are dead, and their number of kills.
  6. Disputes: In order to dispute game results, players/teams must notify a tournament official that they would like to protest the game before a new game has begun. Trawn Media

About Us

Trawn Media is literally the publicly used name for all videos, streams and other content made and distributed by Trevor Warren and Shawn Snow. The name Trawn started as a couple name, combining
the first 2 letters of Trevor and the last 3 letters of Shawn, which we both felt sounded way better than Shevor. (Can you even imagine “Shevor Media?”)

When we first started making videos on YouTube we focused solely on videos about vaping and vape products, and while coming up with a name for the channel we decided to incorporate our couple name into it, so out original name Vaper Trawn was born. A couple years later this had slowly fallen to the back burner for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it was getting expensive to constantly come up with new products to review and new ideas for content while staying within our chosen niche.
Secondly, that chosen niche itself was starting to feel a bit restrictive, since we both have a wide variety of interests and wanted to explore those as well. Finally, the proverbial straw the broke the camel’s back
was when our content was starting to get flagged for supposed drug use, despite the only drug involved being nicotine and all the products we reviewed being available without even that in them.

Fast forward a few years and we are now in our own apartment with the freedom to create whatever content we want without worrying about interfering with things others wanted to do (such as people wanting to cook when we were using the kitchen or watch tv/relax on the sofa while we were making a video in the living room), but still just weren’t looking to go back to just vaping content. We considered having multiple channels and different names, but trying to keep them all updated with content just seemed too daunting a task for just 2 people, and we didn’t feel right asking people to put a huge amount of time into helping us unless we could offer to pay them for their time. On top of the daunting
task of managing multiple channels we also had to support ourselves so we really didn’t see any way to do that and still produce enough content for multiple channels.

We eventually realized we don’t need to do that. We had a YouTube channel with a small number of fans who really liked our overall style and the way we are on camera, and some of them were asking
for more content. We also realized that with all the general content channels and streams out there that there is clearly a place and a demand for them. All we needed was a name and at this point that was the easiest part. We still wanted Trawn in the name and it was gong to be a general name for all forms of content we make across all types of media, including both videos and streaming, so Trawn Media was an obvious fit.

Now here we are, Trawn Media. We’re focusing mainly on gaming streams at this time but with the wide variety of games out there we really feel no restriction in this whatsoever. This is made even better by the very different types of games we both enjoy. From racing games to first person shooters to simulators almost any type of game you can name is something one of us will enjoy, so there really is no shortage or limit on that front. At the same time we do also plan to introduce other things as well.

The game streams will continue of course, because we have both found we enjoy streaming games at least as much as people enjoy watching them, but other things are being planned in addition to this. There are already videos on our FB page from streams of our walk through Bowring Park, where we showed a few of our own favorite features, or at least as much as we could without showing the faces of other people without knowing how they would feel about being in our streams/videos. We also have a video up of an old style soft mod of an X-Box Original, which is a great way of being able to play backups of your games so the original disks can stay safe in the cases. There are even a couple of looking videos up and more to come.

Overall we think this new format will allow much greater creative freedom, and the ability to explore more of our interests with our viewers that we ever could have under the Vaper Trawn name. We look
forward to where this will take us, and hope that as we learn and progress in our content producing skills people looking for all types of content will start to see the Trawn Media name as a sign that this is exactly the type of video, stream, photo album or any other media form they are looking for.
